On September 11, 2026, members of the Rockville Centre Fire Department Color Guard had the honor of presenting the colors at the Town of Hempstead’s Sunrise 9/11 Memorial Ceremony in Lido Beach.
Held at the Town of Hempstead 9/11 Memorial, the ceremony brought together first responders, community leaders, families and residents to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and to honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of those who answered the call that day.
Against the backdrop of the memorial, members of the Rockville Centre Fire Department proudly carried the American flag and department colors as part of the morning’s observance. The opportunity to participate was especially meaningful as communities across the nation marked the 25th anniversary of September 11.
For the members of the Rockville Centre Fire Department, remembrance is more than an annual tradition. The fire service continues to honor the firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel and civilians who lost their lives, while ensuring that their stories of courage, service and sacrifice are never forgotten.
The Rockville Centre Fire Department is proud to have taken part in this solemn ceremony and to stand alongside our neighbors in remembrance.
