For more than 150 years, the Rockville Centre Fire Department has been made up of neighbors volunteering to protect neighbors. Today, that tradition continues with hundreds of volunteers serving our community.
The Rockville Centre Fire Department is a 100% volunteer organization serving the Village of Rockville Centre. Our members are residents and neighbors who give their time to train, respond to emergencies and serve the community they call home.
Since 1875, generations of volunteers have carried that responsibility forward. Today, more than 350 members continue that tradition, responding from seven fire companies located throughout the village.
While our primary responsibility is protecting Rockville Centre, the fire service extends beyond municipal boundaries. RVCFD works alongside neighboring fire departments through mutual aid, providing assistance when requested and receiving additional resources when needed.

Our History →One Department. Seven Companies.
RVCFD is organized around seven fire companies, each with its own history, traditions and membership, working together as one department to protect Rockville Centre.
The Department also includes the Fire Police Squad, whose members are drawn from the seven fire companies and provide traffic control, scene security and other essential support at incidents. The Rockville Centre Junior Fire Department gives young people an opportunity to learn about the fire service, develop skills and experience its traditions before becoming eligible for firefighter membership.
When an incident requires resources beyond those available in Rockville Centre, mutual aid allows neighboring departments to assist. RVCFD provides that same support to surrounding communities when called upon.
